One of our most cherished pieces, jewellery artist Sarah is exceptionally proud of this handcrafted Orchid Necklace. The pendant is made out of a real orchid flower from a plant we've had in our family for years, carefully preserved & then coated in pure copper through the intricate process of electroforming. The chain is made out of pure, solid copper, and was handcrafted from wire, formed & hammered link by link. Saying goodbye to this piece will be hard, no doubt.
Handcrafted via electroforming, this is a truly one-of-a-kind piece.. This pendant took weeks to make from preserving and prepping the flower, to forming the copper, to polishing, to creating the handmade chain, link by link. Not only is this difficult to replicate, no two could possibly be the same due to the nature of the electroforming process, the handmade chain, and the unique, homegrown orchid flower itself.
Materials: real orchid, pure copper
Care Instructions: Copper will oxidize over time, however it can always be polished to look like new again. With proper care, this piece can last a lifetime. For detailed care instructions, see our Jewellery Care page. Some may experience green on their skin, this is a normal interaction of the copper with your skin and it is completely harmless. If this happens, simply wash the green off your skin.Polishing regularly helps prevent this, as well as avoiding contact with moisture.
